Joe Avezzano, Dallas Desperados head coach

Joe Avezzano, the Dallas Desperados head coach, brings not only a wealth of football experience to the Dallas Desperados, but also the charisma and excitement that is Arena Football.

Avezzano is uniquely qualified for the challenge of spearheading Dallas' entry into the indoor game. He played professional football (Boston Patriots). He has been a head coach (Oregon State). And he has served as an assistant coach for two Texas teams that both enjoy a rich football heritage and tremendous tradition (Texas A&M and the Dallas Cowboys).

In addition to his coaching success, Avezzano has also made a name for himself off the field. He is very active in support of the Special Olympics, both on the local and national levels. For the last nine years, he has served as the host to a special fundraising event, including the last three years in which he has hosted a Christmas season concert. Through his efforts, Joe has helped raise over $1.1 million for Texas Special Olympics during his 12 years with the Cowboys.
